It is process in which medication is poured on the head by special process for a specific period is known as Shiro Seka or Shiro Pariseka or Shiro Dhara. According to various medications it is named accordingly.

Taila dhara (Pouring of medicated Oils) Ghrita dhara (Pouring of medicated Ghee) Madhu dhara (Pouring of medicated Honey) Takra dhara (Pouring of medicated Butter Milk) Quath dhara (Pouring of medicated Decoction) Kshira dhara (Pouring of medicated Milk) Kaanji dhara (Pouring of medicated Boiled Rice Water) Luke warm dhara is advised in Vata and Kapha disorders while Cool dhara is advised in Pitta and Rakta disorders. INDICATIONS OF SHIRODHARA:- Multiple pustules on head (Arumshika) Pricking pain on scalp Burning sensation on scalp and head Ulcers on scalp Head ache Depression Fungal infections on scalp Hair fall Other hair related disorders SHIRO PICHU : It means application of cotton piece dipped in medicated oil or ghee on Shira at brahmarandhra region i.e. Anterior fontanelle It is more effective than Shiro Abhyanga and Shiro Dhara because it allows slow and effective absorption of the medication.
